Nirva's Autumn/Winter Collection

The film Latcho Drom, Tony Gatlif's intensely lyrical portrait of Gypsy culture, serves as the inspirational touchstone for this collection. A mixed palette of saturated tones juxtaposed against rich fabrics and finishes -- leather, velvet, lace, silk, featherweight jersey-- this collection is meant not just to be worn, but to be danced in: an expression of the Gypsy in each of us ...adapting to the new world going into the future.

The collection is available at:

CBS - 60 Years of Actresses and Actors

Old tech na ang morphing software na unang nilabas ni Michael Jackson sa kanyang "Black or White" music video noong 1991.  Pero I find it fresh and mesmerizing dito sa video ni Philip S Johnson.  Parang me bagong actor/actress in between the morph frames ng two subjects.  Please watch it in full frame/HD mode.  Enjoy.

What Would Mang Gyver Do?

Masarap talaga ang supermarket popcorn, kaya lang madaling kumunat like my ninong dahil wire tie lang ang pangtali.  Uy me remedyo tayo jan, say ni Mang Gyber.  Kumuha ng basyong plastic jar at sundin lang ang simpleng instructions na naka-piktyur sa ibaba.  Instant garapon  na agad. O kailangan pa bang i-memorize 'yan.

Food Not Bombs

Seven anti-nuclear activists started a collective that came to be known as Food Not Bombs in Cambridge, Massachusetts after the May 24, 1980 Seabrook Occupation Attempt. They recovered surplus food that couldn't be sold from grocery stores, bakers and food manufacturers. This food was distributed to housing projects, daycare centers and battered women's shelters. They also prepared vegetarian meals and shared it along with their literature at protests. After nearly 30 years, this small experiment grew into a worldwide movement with over 1,000 autonomous chapters taking action on every continent, with the exception of Antarctica. The founding chapter of Food Not Bombs is organizing a celebration to mark the first 30 years of Food Not Bombs on May 23, 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. - foodnotbombs

Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer global movement that shares free vegetarian meals as a protest to war and poverty. Each chapter collects surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from grocery stores, bakeries and markets, sometimes incorporating dumpster diving, then prepares community meals which are served for free to anyone who is hungry.

Members of Minor Mishap Marching Band (Austin, TX), the Leftist Marching Band (Portsmouth, NH), and the Walk Out Loud Parade (Allston, MA) joined forces at the Food not Bombs meal.

National Fire Prevention Week

During National Fire Prevention Week, October 3 - 9, 2010 attention is focused on promoting fire safety and prevention, however we should practice fire safety all year long. Many potential fire hazards go undetected because people simply do not take steps to fireproof their home.

Fire Safety Checklist:

    * Install and maintain a working smoke alarm outside of every sleep area and remember to change the battery at least once a year.

    * Designate two escape routes from each bedroom and practice them regularly.

    * Teach everyone the "Stop, Drop, and Roll" technique in case clothing catches on fire.

    * Avoid storing old mattresses in the home or garage.

    * Teach kids that matches, lighters and candles are tools, not toys. If you suspect that a child is playing with fire, check under beds and in closets for telltale signs like burned matches. Matches and lighters should be stored in a secure drawer or cabinet. [source

Meanwhile, somewhere in Manila.
