Enter the Dragon

Ito po ang 31st annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival na ginanap sa Charles River noong June 13.  This is north America's longest running Dragon Boat Festival.

Naglaban ang mga racers from Greater Boston, Rhode Island, New York, Arizona, California and Canada.  The races took place in the Charles River between the Harvard Street Bridge and the Western Ave Bridge to the east.

Cara'y Cruz sa Sta Cruz

 

Pag ganitong mainit na at humido pa sa aming barangay eh nami-miss ko ang aking Maynilang sinilangan.  Binabalikan ang mga larawang elekronikong pinitik ko noong aking huling balik/alis bayan.  2007, nagawi sa pusod ng Maynila, sa Sta Cruz.  Ay wala na palang pilik mata ng kambing at Gold Coin sa me Sine Sta Cruz, but pero merong Nene's Coins.

 

Bumibili si Aling Nene ng mga Lumang pera.  Victory money na issue ng kano, foreign coins, expired money, Marcos money at maski na anong pera, salapi, bread, tiktak o dough.  Payag naman siyang kunan ng piktyurs pero no interview daw at busy sa client.

Ice Hockey sa Pinas?

 

Yes folks, me dalawang Pinoy Ice Hockey team po tayo sa Maynila.  Parang Jamaican Bobsled Team, nepo?  Sa darating na July 1 – 3, 2010 gaganapin ang 2nd Philippine International Ice Hockey Tournament sa SM Mall of Asia ice skating rink.  Meron din Youth Division  (ages 13 to 16 years old) sa tournament pero walang patintero on ice.  Makakalaban ng Manila Team ang ice hockey team ng  Alaska, Qatar, Shanghai, KL/Jakarta, Hong Kong at Tokyo.  Katulad din kaya ng hardcore ice hockey ang laban, like basagan ng bungo o bungian ng ngipin?  Abangan!  Go Bruins este Manila pala!

First Day Of Summer 2010

 

Ngayon po ang official start ng tag-init dito sa aming barangay.  Summer Solstice, ang pinakamahabang araw ng taon.  14 hours, 54 minutes and 45 seconds of daylight to be exact.  Sisikat ang araw ng 5:07 ng umaga at lulubog ng 8:24 ng gabi.  

 

Kanya kanyang paraan upang labanan ang init ng haring araw.  Isa dito ang magbabad maghapon sa beach o para sa mga inner city kids magtampisaw dito sa fountain ng Church of Scientology, ang kulto este simbahan ni Tom Cruise, Travolta, atbp.

Tawilis ng Lawang Taal

 

Sa lawa ng Taal lamang matatagpuan ang isdang Tawilis.  Sardinas na tubig tabang, Sardinella Tawilis ang tunay na ngalan.  Pinsang buo ng Tunsoy at Tam Ban kadalasan ipinapasang pekeng Tawilis sa mga hindi marunong kumilatis ng kaliskis ni Tawilis. Itoy una at huli kong natikman noong 2003 pa, sa palaisdaan ni Jake, berks ni Bong.  Sa ngayon ay maituturing na endangered species na ang Tawilis.  Sayang naman kung mawawala ang taal na sardinas sa lawang Taal.

Kelly's Diner

 

I love Diners, it's like stepping back in time. Parang hinahanap ko sa next table si Travolta at Olivia na biglang babanat ng Greased Lightning sabay kembot.  Speaking of grease, makapigil hininga ang menu dito, like almusal na Sirloin Steak atsaka two eggs, any style pwera Kwek-Kwek, toast and home fries. $7.95 lang. What the heck is Kwek-what? Sabida ng short order cook na matangkad.

 

Kelly's Diner is a 1953 Jerry O'Mahoney, two piece dining car. It measures 55 feet long and is one of the largest diners ever manufactured in the 1950's.

 

It spent the last 42 years on Route 13 in New Castle, Delaware and was brought by the Holmes family in 1996. It was transported to its Ball Square site on two specially equipped, low bed trailers, in two pieces and reassembled with a great deal of care, as you see it now. Completely renovated, we know the Somerville Community will enjoy this classic addition to the Ball Square area.

 

Masarap ang lunch dito like Grilled Ruben on Rye w/Swiss, Sauerkraut & Russian Dressing.  Wait a minute while I punas laway. Siete dolyares at barya lang.  Generous servings ang lunch like "may I unbutton my pants after lunch moment."  Huge apaw plate na kung sasamahan mo ng isang kalderong kanin eh good na sakto pa for a Pinoy family of 4.

 $7.49.  Served with Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, French Fries or Potato Salad and Half Sour Pickle. Very good sandwiches talaga!

Ito ang uso ngayon sa mga boys & girls dito sa aming barangay. Ang mga gomang ibat ibang kulay at korte.  Ha? paki-explain nga. These colorful Silly Bandz are made of silicone and die molded in many different fun shapes. These rubber bands return to their original shape when you take them off.  Yan ang sabida ng manufacturer na tumatabo ng silly dollarz.  $5 ang isang supot (packs of 24) sa toy store at mas mura sa inyung suking corner store ($2 lang).  Tubong goma este lugaw, ne po?

Each year on the first Monday of June, the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts reenacts a drumhead election on the Boston Common where its officers are chosen in a ceremony overseen by the organization's Commander in Chief - the Governor of the Commonwealth. This is the firing of the Howitzer cannons  announcing the entrance of Governor Deval Patrick.
